Singles..Let's Go for Glory!

Oh yes, I am still single and very much happy! Bow.

Before the singles' stream conference, my cousins and I had a rockin' Friday night at the Kerygma concert held at the Plenary Hall, PICC. My high school memories flash backed since the organizers invited Top Suzara (of Freestyle) and he sang 'before I let you go and bakit ngayon ka lang.' Happy to remember memories of the past though :) 

This time, I want to share with you what I have learned during the big event--KCON 2011. It happened last 19th day of November at the Aliw Theatre, Manila. My day was filled of learning, sharing, full of worship and love for our God. 

Here's what you and I can do to know God's purpose in our lives. 

Talk 1: Christian on Call by Mr. Raoul Roncal

• The YES of Mary. Read Luke 1:28-39
• Understanding the meaning of a 'call'. It's God's initiative of entrusting one's life in order for us to make a difference
• When there is a 'noise' around us, we are: afraid to make committed choices, wants to stay the same (we want the popular things around us to be accepted by others) and we only value what looks good on the outside
• Material things are never enough. But in the end, God alone is enough
• "Our hearts are restless till they find rest in our hearts." -Saint Augustine
• The demand that has a promise (Mark 8:34-35)

Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.

• When you let go for God, that's when you will have
• The more you are looking for, the more you'll find it in God
• Life is not about you but how you connect with others
• More is nothing if it's for you but more is something if it's given away

I must admit the next topic was one of my favorites. It is about how we can find our one True Love. I believe there is somebody out there for us.

Talk 2: Is Anybody out there? by Bro. George Gabriel and Sis. Rissa Singson-Kawpeng  

• Be the right one  by working on yourself first
• Keep it simple
• Things to look for in a partner: Personality compatibility, Emotional maturity, Financial stability, Spirituality and good moral character
• Love a person because of his/her virtues and character
• Make the other person happier
• Give of yourself. It's the highest expression of your love to God
• Learn to squeeze and when to release
• Have a life 
• Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23)
• Set boundaries. Do not do what you should do for a husband if he's only a boyfriend
• Seek first God's kingdom. Read Matthew 6:33

Talk 3: What's love got to do with it? Purity in Dating by Mr. Allan and Mrs. Maribel Dionisio

• The best decisions are made from choices
• Flirting is a legitimate means for a legitimate end
• Look for the person first with similar core values, emotional maturity and his/her love for you should be authentic
• Know your 'Non-negotiables' like his/her religious values, similar dreams and aspirations, responsibility, can listen and can share his/her feelings, can fight productively with you, education background
• Attend personal growth and marriage preparation seminars
• Don't wake the dragon!

Talk 4: God in the waking, God in the working by Bro. Randy Borromeo

• All of us are in full-time ministry through serving God in our profession
• God will use what you do to touch other people
• Nobody's can steal God's anointing in your life
• The world is waiting on the anointed kings like us to come in the market place
• The world needs 'kings and queens' of God
• God's plan is for you to carry His presence with you. and when you do that on your job, that's when you find your purpose--your calling.

Whatever you imagine, you can achieve it. Lets Go for Glory!
