The Feast (a Catholic prayer meeting led by Bro. Bo Sanchez) series for the month of January was Guaranteed: 3 Things God Promises You. The last topic talked about “Significance”. Here are the things that I learned from our Feast Pasig builder, Dadddy Obet:
- Is the ‘world’ equals success? The word ‘world’ means power, pleasure,
possessions, prestige and people. I know people that if they have all of these,
they think of themselves a success. But are these enough to call yourself a
successful man? Nah.
- As per Robert Collier, “success is the sum of small efforts
repeated day in and day out”. This means you should not stop at success. You
must create significance!
- Success is achieving your dreams. Significance is helping
others achieve their dreams.
- Three types of Life:
1. A life of success is filling your barn.
2. A life of selfishness is filling my barn. Period.
3. A life of significance is helping others fill their barns.
And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:16-21)
A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous. (Proverbs 13:22)
Have you achieved success? How about significance? In what way?
