Sweet Surrender

When you’re happy and you know it, you just smile!

Daddy O, our Feast Pasig builder and preacher, talked about how to live life and enjoy life to the fullest last Sunday (June 10, 2012) for a special talk during Feast Break. We often have Feast Break talk after we have finished a series and before a new series will begin.  According to Daddy O, for us to love life and live love, we must distinguish two (2) kinds of people in our lives: the Blessing expert and the Problem expert. Blessing experts are those who have the ‘I love’ mentality while Problem experts have the ‘I hate’ mentality. We really have to choose what type of people we want to be surrounded with. Because they might influence us through attitude and character so we better be careful in dealing and choosing our friends.

There are things that we need to savor in our lives. The seasons of our lives that we need to savor each moment because time flies so fast and we must believe that God will provide and will give the best in our lives. Also, by giving affirmations to others, celebrating our victories and other people’s victories, overcoming life’s ordeals and most importantly, strengthening our relationships with the people whom we love and cherish.  I have learned that even if we have done our best but it is God who will win the battle for us. So we need to surrender everything in His hands and power.

Last 2007, I grabbed the opportunity in applying for the prestigious government financial institution—Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas or BSP. It has been my parents’ dream that I will be able to work with BSP because of financial and job security. Who wouldn’t want to work with this government company you ever dreamed your employer be like? One day, the HR Officer informed me that I need to take the written pre-employment test and so I did it. After a week, they interviewed me and asked me to bring along the requirements needed. Even my framed diploma hanging in our study room I brought it in order to show it off to the HR Officer since she requested for the original copy of my college diploma.  When I was about to undergo the last phase which is the final interview with the Director of Financial Accounting Department, my employer that time noticed my frequent absences so they let me decide to resign from work so I can take the final interview. Since they didn’t allow me so I asked BSP to reschedule the final interview. Without a second thought, I filed a resignation letter thinking I only have this chance of applying so I really have to do and give my best. But after the final interview and submission of three (3) sets of requirements and series of follow-up calls, my parents’ dream work for me flowed like water going down the drain. Ouch! Nothing happened. Period. Oh yes, I have cried a river.

But wait there’s more, when my friend asked me to try to apply again in BSP early this year but this time in their East Avenue branch and again submitted the needed application form. Same thing happened. Spell nothing! And now, I do not mind working there and what matters most is I have learned to surrender it to the Lord and believing that He will give the best for me. He brought me to where I am today. I was not able to work with BSP’s Financial Accounting Department but I am truly happy to become a Financial Advisor of Sun Life Financials Phils. Helping people to be financially independent and for me also to plan my finances, learn to invest in stock market and more. I'm still a work in progress and excited in making all my dreams come true!

Oh yes, I'm starting to live the life I truly wanted through God’s grace. To be of service to many people. I certainly believe that all my dreams I wrote down in my dream book, dream board and Novena to God’s love will come true in God’s perfect time. But all of these I surrender in God’s hands.

I stopped and smelled the roses. I savor life! You too, can do it!

May all our dreams come true!
